Nick Vujicic
I am showing you a picture of Nick Vujicic here depicting only his handsome face and part of his torso because there is not much else to show about him physically. Vujicic was born without arms or legs. Yes, you read it right: he has no limbs.
My good friend FH introduced me to Vujicic via a YouTube video. I was fascinated and awed. No, I absolutely have no sympathy for this “handicapped” man – he doesn’t need any. On the contrary, he became one of my heroes, my inspiration, the wind under my tired wings.
Here’s a brief biography of Vujicic I found in Wikipedia:
“Nicholas James “Nick” Vujicic … born 4 December 1982, is an Australian Christian evangelist and motivational speaker born with tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterised by the absence of all four limbs. As a child, he struggled mentally and emotionally as well as physically, but eventually came to terms with his disability and, at the age of seventeen, started his own non-profit organisation, Life Without Limbs. Vujicic presents motivational speeches worldwide which focus on life with a disability, hope and finding meaning in life.”
I wanted to slap myself in shame after seeing what Vujicic could do without arms and legs. But then he just taught me to be brave and persistent. I think most people have a few streaks of courage in them, once in a while at least. Mr. Vujicic just happens to be the epitome of it and I can’t compare myself to that. Still, I am not giving up because of my frail health and lack of financial resources. I just need to try harder with what I have.
Here’s a link to one of his videos:

Nick Vujicic, Stephen Hawking, Andrea Bocelli, and countless others — I don’t personally know any of these great human beings. I do know that they all have exceptional qualities that I admire. They may also have faults and defects that I don’t agree with. But I don’t look for perfection when I look at people that will be models for me. If I can be 1% as strong as these people are, I will count myself as an exceptional man.
Rain or shine, life is beautiful — if you look at it the way Mr. Vujicic does. It’s our choice.
