How many do we have to kill?

The picture you see here is most likely copy-righted by CNN or one of the major news distributors. I hope the rightful owner will forgive me for reprinting it because I am doing it for the same reason they are: To tell people how cruel the world is, how cruel we are to ourselves, to our children. The boy’s name is Omaran Daqneesh. He is about 8 or 9 years old. He was saved after an airstrike in Aleppo, Syria on August 17, 2016. Rescuers took an hour to dig him out from the rubble of his home. It’s believed that his parents and siblings were all killed. This image was taken when he How many killed1was put in an ambulance afterward.

Did you notice that there were no tears in those innocent eyes? My non-medical speculation is that his pain was so deep and tearing that his brain decided to shut down certain emotions and reflexes to save the rest of his bodily functions. I can’t explain it, but I can explain the tears in my own. I cried with the news reporter when she broke the news. I am crying now again as I write about Omaran.

How Many Do We Have to Kill?

Where did the parents go in Aleppo?
They’ve gone underground, dead
Where did the children go in Aleppo?
They’ve gone looking for their parents, dead

Carnivores kill for food
Just enough till they are full
Humans kill humans for blind hate
Don’t even save the meat for winter days

How many murdered parents?
How many orphaned children?

How many do we have to kill?
When is the quota going to be filled?
Is anybody keeping track?
Not sure
Too many already that’s clear

Where did the parents go in Aleppo?
They’ve gone underground, dead
Where did the children go in Aleppo?
They’ve gone looking for their parents, dead

How many killed2
