Camillus Chan

Camillus Chan_2 (75)_NameCamillus (陳寓州)was born and raised in Hong Kong. Shortly after finishing secondary school, he moved to the United States. He continued the pursuit of academics in the adopted country and received a bachelor’s degree in science, a master’s in education and juris doctor in law. He started writing a weekly column in 2011 for self-entertainment and to annoy his family and friends.

Being small in stature, he always wanted to learn martial arts to protect himself. So he took classes in those areas and eventually was awarded a black belt in Judo and a brown belt in Jujitsu. Deep inside, he realized that he was given those ranks more because of his grey hair than his physical skills.

His biggest achievement in life is not his collection of school diplomas, nor his belts in martial arts, but his bout with death itself. He suffered a heart problem in October 2014 which left him unconscious and near death for over twenty days. He won that round.

After waking up from surgery, Camillus started to look at the world with a fresh eye. He began to see that it is quite beautiful and there are a lot of good people around. He’s made it his mission for the rest of his life to spread love, good will and kindness among the human kind. If his weekly writing brings a few minutes of entertainment to the reader, he will be a very happy man.
